Entertainment Magazine Spotlights ‘The Dark Place’Posted by Carlos Pedraza
The Gay Entertainment Directory: After Dark published an advance view of our upcoming film, The Dark Place, featuring an interview with writer-director Jody Wheeler, noting his career of “exploring and celebrating the unusual and fantastic side of queer entertainment.”
Written by GED’s Charlie Gage, the article, “Looking Into Dark Places,” notes how Wheeler saved the production by stepping in when director J.T. Tepnapa took ill and was hospitalized.
The film takes queer cinema in fresh directions, Wheeler told GED. “We’ve told a hell of a lot of coming out and relationship dramas. Filmmakers now are exploring genre themes, like science fiction, fantasy, horror,” he said. “In the case of The Dark Place, I chose to go a little broader and make a thriller.”
